The TIme to Act is Now written by Al Gore is a controversial debate about the future of the planet earth and how global warming is taking place and affecting us as a society. Gore starts his debate with informing the reader what global warming is and calling it a planetary emergency that now threatens human civilization, and states many reasons why people should see this as a threat to the human race, he uses this to make the reader obtain a sense of fear and also catch his attention into reading more. He also goes on and grabs any christianity faith readers by quoting "a nature hike through the Book of Revelations" which is a chapter in the Bible. Gore uses a lot of strategies throughout his whole debate he gives example of what global warming will cause, he also answers questions through out his debate like why global warming is happening and gets his reference from scientist worldwide he goes on by listing many countries and their new broken records dealing with weather and even making the impossible, possible, like hurricanes in the South Atlantic record breaking rainfalls in India and extreme weather that has changed science textbooks. Gore's thesis statement can be located on the first paragraph and it states, "a planetary emergency that now threatens human civilization on multiple fronts." this is the thesis because this whole debate revolves arounds how global warming is changing the earth in many ways one of which can eliminate living condition and the human population. Gore's hidden theme to this debate is that he wants the world but in particular the US to strive as a nation into fighting this issue he goes on by telling all the people who don't believe that they can fix this problem because it is too difficult. He compares it to fighting for freedom and declaring liberty as a nation, women's rights and Jim Crow laws and segregation issues. He want the reader to feel like defeating Global Warming isn't big problem because the US has faced other problems. but towards the end he gives the reader hope saying that the us should take advantage of renewable energy. He ends his debate with situations about Hurricane Katrina and the melting Arctic ice caps and how many americans share things in common he uses this to have a connection in uniting people as a whole.
